Education

Many state and federal laws address the rights and access of children and adults with disabilities to receive an education.

Different laws and regulations apply based on several factors. For example, a student with a developmental disability, such as autism, may be entitled to Special Education to benefit from his or her education, while a student who is paraplegic and uses a wheelchair, needs physical access to standard classes. Different laws also apply based on the level of instruction; pre-school, primary, secondary or post-secondary education.

Because of the complexity of the application of the disability laws to education, this web site simply provides the following list of resources on this subject, but does not have a direct link to the laws and regulations. Many of the listed resources already have the applicable laws categorized with appropriate links.
